On the Road Bringing Grace and Grub to New Jersey Community and First Responders
Food Truck employees, Doren (R), and Sharron (Ctr), with Elizabeth, New Jersey Fire Fighters
Have wheels, will travel! One of the great benefits of having a Food Truck is that you get to go where the people are--delivering first-class food and an inspiring message to the very doorsteps of people. Perhaps call it Door Dash with inspiration (and much better food)!
Such was the case in late October when Fr. Leo and the Plating Grace and Grub Food Truck team took a road trip to New Jersey--sharing faith, fun times and great food with the good people of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and the Elizabeth, New Jersey community.
Hopping on I-95 out of Baltimore, and driving the Food Truck through Pennsylvania and into New Jersey was an exciting and welcome change for the crew. No strangers to traveling far and wide throughout the Maryland, DC and Virginia areas, the itinerant cooks found the change of scenery refreshing on the beautiful fall weekend.
Fr. Leo celebrated and preached the parish's noon Mass with a powerful message, which was followed by a Food Truck Social. Great numbers of parishioners and locals showed up--enjoying sample platters of the Food Truck's most popular menu items. Of course, it was a special treat when members of the Elizabeth Fire Department showed up with their life-saving equipment and wonderful attitudes of selfless service and community mindedness.
Selfless service and community mindedness. Isn't that what The Table Foundation and Food Truck is all about?
