Plating Grace and Grub Gets Ready for Winter Charity
"What you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, you do to me" --Jesus
God will never be outdone in generosity…
By now, pretty much everyone reading this has broken out their winter clothes—including jackets and coats and other outerwear for those who live in colder climates. The same is true with the homeless poor—if they can find or have access to such items.
With its cold, damp climate, Baltimore is really tough in the winter. Added to the burden of the cold is that with fewer winter visitors, many of the homeless population receive much less in the way of alms. Which is where The Table Foundation and other aid organizations step in—providing meals and other essential living items to those living on the streets.
As discussed in the Summer Newsletter, homelessness is a major societal problem whose roots and solutions are way beyond the scope and reach of The Table Foundation. We know we aren’t going to solve this problem. We also realize that some people may in some way resent the homeless and--perhaps even correctly in many cases, blame their plight on the person him or herself. We get that, too. But regardless of any potential concerns, we nonetheless roll up our sleeves and non-judgmentally reach out and help care for them.
These people are our fellow humans; brothers and sisters in need. Last winter the Foundation/Food Truck team provided over 2,500 meals to the needy, homeless poor in Baltimore, not to mention all the toiletry kits, space blankets and hand warmers that were given out.
Won’t you consider generously supporting the Foundation’s Charity Service work so we can feed and help even more of Baltimore’s homeless poor? Your brothers and sisters in need are counting on it.
