Great Employees, continued...
Full-time, paid employees, as opposed to the formerly incarcerated or others getting back on their feet, are needed to work on the Truck—both to be able to fulfill the dozens and dozens of Food Truck bookings at parishes, fairs, neighborhood events, and the like, as well as work at other catered events booked through the Food Truck or Plating Grace.
Employees provide much of the human structure and support that people getting back on their feet might need. It is also important and helpful that the employee have no criminal record—a requirement for work on military or other government installations, which would exclude the previously incarcerated.
Due to these labor trials, the Food Truck operated shorthanded much of 2022 and at times had to resort to using temporary fill-ins. Here, many thanks go to Fr. Leo’s nieces and nephews; Plating Grace’s videographer, Joe; Chef Christa Bruno and others! But fortunately, through God's Providence, staffing for the Food Truck is pretty good for the moment, and for that everyone is most grateful. One blessing is that Chef Christa is continuing her work with the Food Truck as a Culinary Collaborator--bringing to the Team her vast experience and energy.
So now, let's meet some of these mission-driven people!
Chef Christa wowing the palate
Another Baltimore native, Sharron, has brought a wonderful light of optimism and energy to the Food Truck and Foundation. This mother of two teenaged daughters is no stranger to giving and caring for others. Sharron holds licenses as both a CNA and Certified Geriatric Nursing Associate. Since starting, Sharron has been mostly involved with Customer Service, but has quickly undertaken some of the Food Truck management responsibilities--ensuring it is always ready for the next event. A Foodie at heart, Sharron is working on developing her culinary arts skills when able. Great having you on board, Sharron!
Baltimore native, Chef Christa, is no stranger to working with the disadvantaged. This food dynamo first caught the attention of The Table Foundation and Food Truck team when she was the Culinary Arts Instructor teaching skills to those previously involved with the criminal justice system. Some of the Food Truck's graduates and current employees learned their initial culinary skills from her. When that program was unfortunately discontinued, Chef Christa made herself available to work on the Food Truck and to help with other events. Thanks to her support and collaboration, the Food Truck and Plating Grace now also has access to a wonderful dining facility in Baltimore's Little Italy for catered, sit-down meal affairs. If you are interested in such an event, please be in touch. Great to have you with us, Chef Christa!
